As nurses become more accountable in their practice, they are being called upon to expand their role of caregiver and advocate to include fostering research and scholarship to advance nursing practice. An annotated bibliography stimulates innovative thinking to find solutions and approaches to effectively and efficiently address these issues.

For this assessment, you will write a 4–6 page annotated bibliography where you identify peer-reviewed publications that promote the use of one of the technologies presented below that
enhance quality and safety standards in nursing.
Before you complete the detailed instructions in the courseroom, first review the technologies
below and select the one you’re most interested in researching.
After selecting one of the following technologies to be the focus of your assessment, return to
the courseroom to review the detailed instructions there.
Real-time Location Systems: These systems track the location of equipment, patients,
and staff in real-time within a healthcare facility. This can improve efficiency, reduce
equipment theft or loss, and enhance patient safety.
Remote Patient Monitoring: This involves the use of digital technologies to collect
medical and other health data from individuals in one location and electronically transmit
it to healthcare providers in a different location for assessment and recommendations.
Tele-psychiatry: Tele-psychiatry allows for the provision of psychiatric evaluation,
consultation, and treatment through video conferencing. It’s a valuable tool in areas with
a shortage of mental health professionals.
