Professional Goal and Objectives: (SMART)

Professional goals and objectives are related to this course’s clinical rotation (practicum).
· Please note that the SMART goals and objectives you submit must be professional in nature.
· During your clinical practicum, you will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with an expert (RN preceptor) to meet specific learning goals in a chosen area of interest.
·
Thus, your professional goals and objectives will relate to your PDSA’s “identified problem” and/or “your clinical experience” at your clinical site.
· For this reason, your professional goals and objectives will be due the first week of your clinical practice experience.
· These clinical offers opportunities to apply leadership skills and gain deeper self-awareness through reflection and skill building.
· The outcome is measured because of established evidence-based interventions to improve the overall quality of healthcare delivery regarding your PDSA project.

You must submit a minimum of four (4) SMART goals using the guidelines listed below.
SMART Goals & Objectives
· All professional goals and objectives
MUST be written using the SMART format (see below):
· SMART stands for the following: (Educational Blueprints, LLC, 2012)
· S = Specific (Objectives should be concrete and easily defined. Ask why, when, where, who, what, and how this objective will be accomplished.
· M = Measurable (Learners should be able to quantify, whether or not they meet their objectives, either in numbers or by comparison. Has something been done that will show that a change has occurred?
· A = Attainable (Have smaller objectives to complete first. Make small goals add up to a larger goal, making it more attainable.
· R = Relevant (How realistic or relevant are the objectives based on the resources readily available? Are the objectives relevant to the topic (i.e., PDSA project and/or NUR 4945 Clinical experience)
· T = Timely (Make a deadline. By when should the objective be accomplished)
· Time period must be within the dates you are at your clinical practice site.

Title Page: Include a title page formatted according to APA 7th edition guidelines.

Body of Paper
·
Introduction: Provide a brief introduction explaining the context of your PDSA project (i.e., clinical problem or process)

SMART Goals and Objectives: Clearly state four SMART goals and objectives, ensuring each one adheres to the SMART criteria. Use OHSU example as a guide.
·
References & Citations (i.e., parenthetical & narrative)
· Please note that you must list all your references in a separate page.
· All references must be cited in APA 7th edition.
· All citations (i.e., parenthetical or narrative) must be cited in APA 7th edition.
· Please note that every time you use information gathered from an author(s)/organization or AI, you must cite each source using a parenthetical or narrative citation in the body of the paper. Then list all the sources that you cited in a separate page titled, “References” page(s).
· If you do not use citations or references, the information is considered to be plagiarized.
· To avoid any issues with plagiarism, you will need to cite all your information and then list your sources as references in the “References” page(s).
