Skills: This assignment should help you understand how to apply the supply and demand model, including graph manipulation, changes in equilibrium price and quantity, shifts of supply and demand and real-world application. This assignment should also help in the development of your written communication skills, including organization, presentation and analysis.
Knowledge: This assignment should help you develop a deeper understanding of the supply and demand model and how to use it to evaluate changes in prices and quantities in markets due to shifts in supply or demand.
Task: In this assignment you will need to find a newspaper article about a change in a market due to either a shift in supply or shift in demand. You will write a one-page analysis (about 350 words) about what is causing equilibrium price and quantity to change in the article (either a shift in supply or a shift in demand) and include a graph reflecting the change in supply and/or demand according to your newspaper article. Upload your document in Word or PDF format. If you need help finding a newspaper article, please reach out for help (also there are some sample articles in the Chapter 2 Study Resources in the Chapter 2 Module).
Criteria for success:
1. Follow all instructions carefully.
2. Choose a newspaper or newsworthy article (avoid encyclopedia-type websites like Wikipedia or Investopedia – encyclopedia or economics tutoring website articles will not be accepted).
3. Write more than the minimum writing requirement of 350+ words.
4. Make sure your graph and analysis are correct and explain what is happening in the graph in detail.
5. Include a graph, explain what is happening in the graph and how it relates to what is happening in the newspaper article.
6. Draw your own graph either by hand or on the computer. Do not copy and paste a graph from the internet into your assignment.
7. Use complete sentences, correct grammar and run spell check. Proofread your work.
8. Do your own work and ask for help if you need it. The use of AI or cheating websites on this assignment or failure to cite outside resources (plagiarism) will result in a score of zero on this assignmen

How to make graph
How to get your graph into your written assignment There are a few things you can do to insert your graph into your written assignment: 1. PDF: You can draw your graph by hand directly onto your typed document and scan it into PDF with a scanner. Please note that there are free Apps for your phone that will let you use your camera to scan the document into PDF. 2. Word: You can click on “Insert” and “Picture” to insert a picture of your graph into your assignment if you are using Word. You can also use the Interactive Scratch Paper in the Module, manipulate the graph and then take a screenshot and insert it into your document. 3. Word: I often use the “Shapes” tool in the Insert tab in Word to draw the lines directly into your document. It took me about 2 minutes to draw the graph below. I have also heard of other students that use Flash or Paint. 4. I recommend that you avoid the use of Excel to draw graphs unless you have the number data, since you need number data to convert to graph. 5. Please note that you must draw your own graphs in this class. Graphs that are copied and pasted from the internet are not allowed here
