Implementing Problem Solving Processes[WLOs: 2, 3] [CLOs: 3, 5, 7]

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read Chapters 3 and 4 from the course textbook, Health Policy Analysis: An Interdisciplinary Approach and review the ‘Doing’ Health Policy Analysis: Methodological and Conceptual Reflections and ChallengesLinks to an external site. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2515406/article and the CDC’s Policy Analytical FrameworkLinks to an external site.https://www.cdc.gov/policy/paeo/process/analysis.html webpage.

You are the administrator of a local long-term care facility, and your regional administrator has asked you to participate in a healthcare team policy assessment group culminating multiple facilities and department managers. The group will be assessing the current admissions policy process regarding Medicaid patients. As this will be your first time serving in this capacity, you must research implications for problem solving in a team setting.

McLaughlin and McLaughlin (2023) suggest “multidisciplinary groups will be better able to work together cooperatively if they discuss the following questions early on in their work” (p.58).

  • Describe how the group can express personal assumptions and vision and incorporate them into intellectual discourse that respects others’ points of view.
  • Define two notions of social equity and social change processes that should be considered when developing and implementing a health care organization’s policy change within their strategic plan process.
  • Describe a reasonable objective for social change and how this objective could improve the equity of patient admissions in long-term care facilities.
  • Explain how the group can cooperate if they cannot agree on specific assumptions and visions and how they can best cooperate on limited objectives despite their disparate viewpoints.

You must provide cited content to support and validate your thoughts and suggestions. Also, note that you should not write in first person. You can refer to Writing Center’s First vs. Third PersonLinks to an external site. tutorial for specifications.

First vs. Third Person WritingFor Example

First person example (only acceptable for personal writing):

I think Shakespeare’s play Hamlet is about the relationships between family members. I really liked the play, and in some ways the characters reminded me of my own family.

Third person correction (appropriate for all other academic writing):

Shakespeare’s play Hamlet deals with the relationships between family members. In Examining Hamlet, Arnold Latimer describes these relationships as “conflicted” (2005, p. 327).

In the second example, the pronouns “I” and “me” have been omitted, and academic sources were used as evidence.
