Importance of personal development

ARTICLE ON PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Personal growth is a big factor in one’s life. It helps one to thrive for success, it allows you to

reach your potential, it increases self-awareness, boosts your confidence, positive mindset and

set goals for you to achieve. Being self-aware helps you understand yourself more and more,

this includes knowing your strengths and weaknesses. By knowing your potential, you are able

to set your goals, something that you know you are capable of and will go for it no matter what.

Setting your goals is like challenging yourself and even going to further steps to make them

achieved therefore, personal development plays a game in this because without knowing

yourself hence makes everything impossible for you. Moreover, personal growth is not only

about outer growth but also inner growth.

First, you need to know your self-worth so that to overcome self-doubt. To overcome self-

doubt, one of the things is to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Our weakness helps us to

learn more about ourselves and no one knows us better than ourselves. Strengths are our way

out from self-doubt. It helps us to boost confidence, have a positive mindset and aim for the

highest point. It doesn’t matter if one can do it or not you have to kill the doubt by trying it out

because results just don’t come served on a silver platter. Don’t give yourself the benefit of

doubt, instead overcome it by giving your trials a chance. It’s the efforts we make that matters

therefore, the results at the end should not be a regret but a tap on the back for facing it.

Building self-confidence is not that easy I trust but there are ways to do so. For instance, we can

build confidence by trying out things that we are afraid of doing because of the turnout at the

end, but we should not let the fear overcome us. The things that we find hard to do are the

ones that we should be motivated to do. When building confidence also we should avoid trying

to be overconfident because not everything will turn out the way we want, hence preventing

being discouraged. Confidence gives us the chance to face challenges and fears, and this is what

keeps us going, therefore, self-confidence is important.

Time management techniques are really important in personal development. Learning how to

manage ourselves helps us prevent overloading tasks and procrastinating. Having a systematic

way of doing things is a way of being self-aware and you time manage yourself in a way that is

suitable for you. I believe time management is beneficial and not having one is very crucial. This

might even disrupt you and lead to stress, which is not healthy, hence affecting you in a

negative way. This time management technique helps you to run things smoothly and

effectively.

Developing a growth mindset helps in many ways such as building confidence, helping to be

self-aware etc. Having a positive growth mindset makes you ready for challenges, helps you

face your fears and be ready for the outcome. In life we don’t really know how things will

actually turn out but having a growth mindset is what helps us. For example, when we face a

challenge, we don’t tend to stick in one place we look from solutions to get out of it hence

that’s one benefit of having a growth mindset. Always remember every challenge has a lesson

at the end and all we have to do is set ourselves free and move on.

How do we balance personal and professional life? We can do this by understanding this are

two different sets of environments that we engage ourselves in. The way we behave at work is

not how we do it in our personal life. Both are given different attention, and we should not lose

ourselves in the work side forgetting who we are, what we love and most importantly our

mental health. How to balance is by when it comes to personal life, we engage ourselves in

things we love and enjoy the moment and if one has a family then be with your family don’t

take out the pressure and workload on yourself. When it comes to professional life do what you

need to do but don’t put too much stress on yourself.

As human beings we should always be ready for uncertain change. In life not everything is

meant to be constant. Just as the process of birth, a child is brought into the world but will not

always remain a child, they grow into an adult. Things tend to change from time to time hence

we need to learn how to adapt to these changes. We should blend in and accept the way things

turn out and have a positive mindset. Yes, some changes are inevitable hence we need to learn

how to deal with it even though it might not be easy.

Lastly, cultivating positive habits. We cultivate positive habits by developing positive attitudes

and thoughts, having consistent efforts to put positive behaviors part of our routine. For

example, when you do something good or achieve something you can reward yourself and

actually make it your thing every time. Set your goals and always track your progress it can be

motivating and help you stay focused on your goals.
