Objective: In this chapter you learned about the impact that the development of mobile devices and the app ecosystem have had on systems analysts and the knowledge they have to acquire to protect businesses in the era of “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD). As a systems analyst you will need to think about the pros and cons of implementing a BYOD policy in an organization. This exercise will help reveal the potential benefits and possible drawbacks of BYOD. These findings can help an organization make informed decisions regarding its BYOD adoption. Review IBM’s BYOD policy at get a better understanding of what a company’s policy covers.

Also, consider how different factors (e.g., security, productivity, cost, employee satisfaction) can influence the decision to adopt or reject a BYOD policy.
