Develop a 3 page report on how conflict can affect an organization. Describe reasons
for conflict and explain the role of both functional and dysfunctional conflict in
institutional change. Recommend strategies for resolving both functional and
dysfunctional conflict
Institutional conflict can be either functional or dysfunctional. From the functional
perspective, conflict is productive because it encourages members of the institution to
learn, improve, and develop creativity and problem-solving skills. Conversely, conflict
can be dysfunctional when it threatens the structure and stability of an institution or
stifles creativity and change. However, if managed properly, conflict can lead to growth
and improvement for both individuals and the institution as a whole.
To explore the nature of conflict within institutions, its causes, and how change can be
effectively managed. You will analyze real-world examples and propose strategies for
transforming conflict into positive change within an institutional setting.
