- You must submit two separate copies (one Word file and one PDF file) using the Assignment Template on Blackboard via the allocated folder. These files must not be in compressed format.
- It is your responsibility to check and make sure that you have uploaded both the correct files.
- Zero mark will be given if you try to bypass the SafeAssign (e.g. misspell words, remove spaces between words, hide characters, use different character sets, convert text into image or languages other than English or any kind of manipulation).
- Email submission will not be accepted.
- You are advised to make your work clear and well-presented. This includes filling your information on the cover page.
- You must use this template, failing which will result in zero mark.
- You MUST show all your work, and text must not be converted into an image, unless specified otherwise by the question.
- Late submission will result in ZERO mark.
- The work should be your own, copying from students or other resources will result in ZERO mark.

Description and Instructions
Description and Instructions
Purpose: This project is designed to challenge you and your team to think creatively and
practically about the use of technology in enhancing the functionality and experience of
transportation systems. It is an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to a practical
problem, simulating real-world systems integration challenges and solutions.
Project Overview:
This group project involves the application of Systems Integration, Enterprise
Application Integration (EAI), and Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA) principles
to design enhancements for a Smart Transportation System. Your group will select a
specific aspect of urban mobility and operations such as campus shuttle services, public
bus systems, or ridesharing and propose technological integrations or improvements to
enhance efficiency, sustainability, or user experience.
Group Composition:
• Teams must consist of 2 students.
• Effective collaboration and clear division of responsibilities are essential for the
project’s success.
Project Scope:
Choose a focus area for your Smart Transportation System project. Potential areas
include but are not limited to:
• Fleet Tracking and Scheduling: Propose IoT-based systems for monitoring vehicles,
optimizing routes, and reducing delays.
• Passenger Experience: Improve commuter life through real-time passenger
information apps, smart ticketing, or navigation systems.
• Safety and Security: Enhance travel safety using integrated surveillance, driver
monitoring, or emergency response solutions.
• Predictive Maintenance: Develop solutions for efficient management of vehicles,
using data analytics to predict breakdowns and optimize maintenance schedules.

Project Deliverables:
• Project Report (10 Marks): Detail your project’s objective, methodology, expected
outcomes, and impact on urban or campus transportation. Use the specified report
template for your submission.
• Presentation (4 Marks): Prepare a presentation that summarizes your project
approach, findings, and recommendations. Utilize the provided presentation
template.
Submission Guidelines:
• Submit both the project report and presentation slides via the designated learning
management system (e.g., Blackboard), with one group member responsible for the
submission.
• Original work is required. Plagiarism will result in a zero mark for the entire project.
Project Tasks:
• Task One: System Requirements and Design
• Identify and document specific functional and non-functional requirements for
your chosen Smart Transportation System area.
• Use “Shall” statements for clarity and prioritize these requirements based on
potential impact and feasibility
•
Task Two: Integration Strategy and Tools
• Investigate and select appropriate integration strategies and technologies that
could be applied to your project. This might include IoT devices, mobile
applications, cloud services, GPS tracking, or data analytics platforms.
• Document your proposed integration framework and the tools and technologies
that will be utilized, supported by research and case studies where applicable.
•
Task Three: Testing and Evaluation
• Develop test scenarios and criteria to evaluate the effectiveness and integration
of the proposed system within the transportation infrastructure.
• Outline these scenarios in a structured format, including metrics for assessing
performance, safety, and user satisfaction.
