The Assignment must be submitted on Blackboard (WORD format only) via allocated
folder.

Students must mention question number clearly in their answer.
Late submission will NOT be accepted.
Avoid plagiarism, the work should be in your own words, copying from students or other
resources without proper referencing will result in ZERO marks. No exceptions.
All answered must be typed using Times New Roman (size 12, double-spaced) font. No
pictures containing text will be accepted and will be considered plagiarism).

Assignment Purposes/Learning Outcomes:
After completion of Assignment-2 students will be able to:
L.O 1.3: Define the different Knowledge types and explain how they are addressed
by knowledge management in different business environments.
L.O 2.1: Demonstrate effective knowledge management skills to utilize knowledge
management tools for the benefits of the organization.
L.O 2.2: Identify and analyze role of communities of practice in knowledge
management and the challenges and issues pertaining to community of practice.

Assignment Questions:

This Assignment is a report-based assignment.
Besides other materials like journal papers, report, and research articles, students are
advised to read chapter 5, chapter 9 and chapter 10 thoroughly from the book prescribed
for this course.

Students must use proper references to justify their assignment work.
The Assignment structure is as follows:

A. Answer in 500-600 Words. (7.5 Marks)
Q.1: Describe the concept of Communities of Practice. Why are “Communities
of practice” Important? (2 Marks) Chapter 5
Q.2: How can organizations cultivate communities of practice? How can these
communities of practice contribute towards the knowledge needs of the
organization? (2.5 Marks) Chapter 5
Q.3: Discuss the role of communities of practice in Knowledge management.
Compare and contrast some different types of communities of practice.
Describe how they would differ with respect to their goals. (3 Marks) Chapter 5
