Tech Innovators Inc. is a mid-sized software development company that has been in
operation for over a decade. Despite its impressive growth, the company faced a
challenge: employee engagement was declining, leading to lower productivity and
increased turnover rates.
In 2023, the Human Resources (HR) department decided to conduct an employee
engagement survey. The results revealed significant issues, including poor
communication between teams, a lack of recognition for achievements, and a feeling
among employees that their ideas were not valued.
To address these issues, the HR team implemented several initiatives:
Monthly Town Hall Meetings, to improve communication, the company introduced town
hall meetings where teams could share updates, celebrate successes, and discuss
challenges openly. The goal was to foster a sense of community and ensure employees
felt heard. Recognition Program: A new employee recognition program was launched,
allowing peers to nominate each other for monthly awards. This program highlighted
individual and team contributions, boosting morale and motivation. Feedback Channels:
The HR team created anonymous feedback channels for employees to voice their
opinions and suggestions. This encouraged open dialogue and provided management with
insights into issues that needed attention. Innovation Days: The company established
quarterly innovation days, allowing employees to work on personal projects or team
initiatives. This not only fostered creativity but also gave employees a sense of ownership
over their work.

After implementing these initiatives over the course of a year, Tech Innovators Inc. saw a
marked improvement in employee engagement scores in the following survey.
Employees reported feeling more valued and involved in the company’s direction.
Turnover rates decreased, and productivity levels rose, leading to improved company
performance.
Questions for Discussion:
1. What specific elements of the town hall meetings do you think were most
beneficial in improving employee engagement? (2Marks)
2. How can the effectiveness of the recognition program be measured over time?
(2Marks)
3. What additional strategies could HR implement to further enhance
