Introduction:
This project continues the work from Case Study 2, with students working in the same groups as
before. The focus is on integrating targeted improvements in database management, artificial
intelligence (AI), and security. These enhancements should be specifically tailored to the ERP
system scenario analyzed in Case Study 2.

Project Components (Simplified)
1. Database Management Analysis:
Focus on one improvement to the ERP database structure, such as reorganizing tables for
better efficiency or enhancing data retrieval speed.
2. AI Integration in ERP:
Select one AI feature to integrate, like predictive analytics for better inventory management
or automation to streamline processes.
3. Security Information System Enhancement:
Recommend one main security enhancement, such as improved user access control, data
encryption, or a basic threat detection mechanism.

Length: Maximum of 6 pages (including Title Page, Abstract, and References).
Figures: 2 to 4 figures (e.g., diagrams, flowcharts, or data visualizations relevant to database
structure, AI integration, or security architecture).
Tables: 1 to 2 tables (e.g., comparison tables for current and proposed features, security risks
and solutions, or ERP module functionalities).
References: Minimum of 15 references (from academic sources, articles, and ERP or AI
documentation).
Report Structure with Detailed Guidance
1. Title Page:
o Details to Include: Course title, project title (e.g., “Enhancing ERP Systems with
Database, AI, and Security”), your full names and ID, and the project’s submission
date.
o Tip: Keep it simple but ensure all information is clearly visible and formatted
professionally.
2. Abstract:
o Purpose: Summarize the purpose of the project, outlining the ERP system analyzed
in Case Study 2 and the new enhancements.
o What to Include: In two to three sentences each, mention (1) the ERP system context
from Case Study 2, (2) the main focus of each enhancement (database, AI, and
security), and (3) the expected benefits of these enhancements.
o Example: “This project builds on the ERP system examined in Case Study 2 by
proposing targeted improvements in database management, artificial intelligence, and
security. These enhancements aim to optimize data retrieval, introduce predictive
analytics, and reinforce data protection. The overall goal is to increase system
efficiency, accuracy, and security.”
3. Introduction:
o Purpose: Introduce the ERP system context from Case Study 2 and provide a
rationale for this project’s focus on database, AI, and security enhancements.
o What to Include: Describe the ERP system’s role in the business, emphasizing its
current functions and limitations that might be improved. State why enhancing
database management, AI integration, and security is beneficial for the ERP’s
performance.
o Example: If RetailCo’s SAP system was used, discuss its current applications in
inventory and customer service, then mention that improvements in data organization,
predictive inventory management, and data protection are essential to remain
competitive.
4. Methodology:
o Purpose: Explain how you identified and selected the specific enhancements for each
area (database, AI, and security).
o What to Include: Briefly describe your approach, such as researching ERP
optimization practices or reviewing ERP challenges faced by the business. Mention
any resources or criteria used to evaluate the relevance of each enhancement.
o Tip: Keep this section concise; a few sentences on your research or thought process
will be enough.

5. Database Management Analysis:
o Purpose: Provide a clear analysis of one database improvement and how it will
enhance ERP functionality.
o What to Include: (1) Describe the ERP system’s current database structure as per
Case Study 2. (2) Identify one area where database performance can improve, such
as speeding up queries, reorganizing tables, or enhancing integration between
modules. (3) Explain the potential benefits, such as faster data retrieval or more
accurate reporting.
o Example: “In RetailCo’s SAP system, optimizing the database by indexing
frequently accessed tables could reduce query times and improve response times for
inventory checks, benefiting decision-making speed.”
6. AI Integration in ERP:
o Purpose: Introduce one AI feature and describe how it could improve ERP system
performance.
o What to Include: (1) Describe the chosen AI technology, such as predictive analytics
or machine learning. (2) Explain why this AI feature is relevant to the ERP system,
specifically in the context of the ERP scenario from Case Study 2. (3) Discuss the
expected impact, like automating reordering based on demand forecasting, enhancing
customer personalization, or reducing stockouts.
o Example: “Integrating predictive analytics into SAP for RetailCo could enable
demand forecasting, allowing the system to adjust reordering levels automatically,
improving inventory accuracy and customer satisfaction.”
7. Security Information System Enhancement:
o Purpose: Evaluate one security enhancement to protect the ERP system’s data and
user information.
o What to Include: (1) Identify the ERP system’s current security measure as observed
in Case Study 2. (2) Propose one security enhancement, such as stronger access
controls, data encryption, or a threat monitoring tool. (3) Explain how this
enhancement would reduce risks, such as unauthorized access or data breaches.
o Example: “To enhance data security in RetailCo’s SAP system, implementing rolebased access controls could prevent unauthorized employees from accessing sensitive
information, reducing the risk of data breaches.”
8. Conclusions and Recommendations:
o Purpose: Summarize the enhancements and outline their expected impact on the ERP
system.
o What to Include: (1) Recap the database, AI, and security enhancements,
highlighting their potential benefits. (2) Offer any additional recommendations for
long-term improvements, like continuous updates or regular staff training to
maximize the effectiveness of these enhancements.
o Example: “By optimizing database retrieval, integrating predictive analytics, and
strengthening access controls, RetailCo’s SAP system could achieve higher
operational efficiency, more accurate decision-making, and improved data
protection.”
9. References:
o Purpose: List all sources, articles, or ERP documentation you consulted.
o What to Include: Use APA, MLA, or another preferred citation format. Include any
articles on ERP systems, AI in business, database management practices, or
cybersecurity that informed your analysis.
