Swanson, J. L., & Fouad, N. A. (2020).
Career theory and practice: Learning through case studies (4th ed.).

·
Chapter 9: “Super’s Developmental Theory”

·
Chapter 12: “Career Construction Theory and Life Designing Paradigm”

·
Chapter 15: “The Intersection of Career and Noncareer Issues”

·
Chapter 16: “Summary and Integration”

PART A-At this point you’re somewhat well versed in theory and know how to apply it. We will be using the assigned readings surrounding Super’s Developmental Theory, Career Construction Theory, and Life Designing Paradigm. In the replies you will take the part of a mental health counselor providing career counseling. Some believe that only career counselors provide career counseling; this is far from the truth, clients will come in with career issues. Gaining their story is part of the process.

Initial Post:
Post a small part of your summative essay for your peers to review. Post enough for your peers to put together a pattern of your stories, narratives of your life, and “micro narratives.”

PART B-Write a 750-word essay that critically analyzes your career path based on one of the career theories. Choose a career theory with which you best align and believe will assist you in working with your chosen population. In your introduction, examine why you have chosen this theory and then respond to the following:

· The critical analysis of your own career path based on one career theory.

· Your current resume.

· Your family of origin genogram.

· The results from your Keirsey Temperament test.

· The results from your Holland Code test.

· The results from your OK College start interest profile.

· What did you learn about yourself?

· In what way would these exercises be beneficial to your future clients, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or culture?

RESULTS-

Traits: Social (enjoys helping, teaching, counseling), Investigative (likes problem-solving, exploring ideas), Artistic (prefers creativity, writing, and self-expression).

3. OKCollegeStart Interest Profiler (Lcc, n.d.).

Result: Highest in Social and Artistic clusters, with secondary strengths in Investigative.

Traits: Values working with people, expressing creativity, and solving problems in flexible, meaningful environments.

Ways the Assessments Describe Me

The assessment played an essential role in describing my character and inclination. According to the Temperament Test, I am empathetic and focused on helping people around me. For this reason, I value active listening and always offer suggestions that can help individuals solve their challenges. This is a nurturing culture that has always been part of my everyday life, and I see it in how I relate with the people around me. The test results were convincing since they are things I strongly relate to in academic and social contexts.
