Part I: Film AnalysisStep 1:Choose one film from this list, also available at recommend that you watch the movie at least twice. All of the films in the list arebeautiful films that capture transition moments in a given developmental period, andthe transitions are related to those that have been discussed throughout the course. Youmight choose a film based on a specific developmental stage that you are interested in.Step 2:Summarize and analyze the film with a specific focus on key developmentalfeatures, milestones, or transitions observed in the life of the maincharacter(s).● First, please provide a detailed description of the film in general and the ways inwhich the character’s socio-economic status/ethnic and language background,particular location, and the historical time period may influence the character’slife, development, and growth. For instance, why is social class one of the manyimportant factors to analyze in Billy Elliot’s plight to become a ballet dancer inthe movie Billy Elliot? (at least 1 page, double-spaced)● Second, describe the main character’s development, dilemma, resilience, and theways in which the character develops, behaves, thinks, and makes decisionsthroughout the film based on the course materials. In this section, you mustinclude at least three developmental theories/theorists (such as Erikson,Bronfenbrenner, etc.) in your analysis with some description/summary and in-text citations as you have done for reflections. (at least 2 pages, double-spaced)Part II: Call to Action● First, reflect on the life of the character in your film. What family, school,community, and social supports that might/could have made a difference in thischaracter’s development, behaviors, or decisions? Suggest 3-5 ways in which thecharacter’s development might have been enhanced or better supported –include at least one support system at the level of family and close friends, at leastone support system at the level of public institutions (e.g., school, hospitals,Updated. 2025-06-052social welfare agencies, etc), and at least one support system at the level ofthe community or society in which the character lives (at least 2 pages, double-spaced)● Second, if you were asked to provide a recommendation for one improvement tothe social services that were available in the specific location and time featured inthe film, what would it be? Provide an argument that justifies the expenditure ofpublic funds on your chosen social support. (at least 1 page, double-spaced)Part III: ReflectionRead over the four life reflections that you developed for  thissemester.● Based on your analysis of your life reflection entries, discuss what you learnedabout your own lifespan development (at least 2 pages, double-spaced) . Youcould think of the following prompts.○ How has your life been positively or negatively influenced byenvironmental factors, such as the people with whom you interacted,social institutions/services, or historical events (for instance, COVID,natural disasters, etc)?○ If you had a time machine to travel to your past, what would you tell ayounger version of you?● Please attach the reflections of your choice as an appendix to the end of thisassignment.Part IV: ConclusionReview and reflect upon both your film analysis and your summaryreflection. Write a conclusion that summarizes your key learnings fromthis class.One way to think about your conclusion is to reflect on the following prompts:● In your career — what will you need to remember when you interact with yourcolleagues, clients, customers, patients, pupils, etc.?● As a parent/godparent/aunt or uncle/friend or neighbor of families withchildren — what do you want to remember about how children develop?● As a maturing adult — what do you want to remember when you are a youngadult? In middle age? When you are an elder in your community? (at least 3-4 pages, double-spaced)Part V: Reference ListBe sure to include a title page and reference list and use APA format for these and in-textcitations. An abstract is not necessary.
