Pick 3: Career Plan, Part 1 (of 2) – DueSep 1, 2025 8:00 AMCAREERS IN PSYCHOLOGY XLS Group APS10 Fall Semester 2025Instructions

Across the course of the semester there will be 5 opportunities posted for “Pick 3” assignments; you need to complete 3 (i.e., pick) 3 of those 5 assignments to complete.

This is the first Pick 3 assignment opportunity and it is in two parts. You must complete both parts to receive credit for this Pick 3 assignment. Part 1 is available this week, and Part 2 will be available in the last week of the semester. Your final grade on the Career Plan assignment will be posted when you complete the 2nd part at the end of the semester. (If you don’t complete this one, you’ll need to complete 3 of the remaining 4 options in the Pick 3 category of assignments.)

What are you doing? Thinking about your ideal career goals

Think about what career goals you had in mind when you decided to become a psychology major and why you are interested in pursuing this career. Your career goal can be something in industry right after attaining your bachelor’s degree or it can be something that requires a further graduate degree. It’s also ok if are considering several different options or are not completely sure of what you want to do. Think about the several different goals you have or try to think about what you might most want to do with your psychology degree.

Why are you doing it? We will be introducing you to many different career options and fields of study in psychology, as well as provide several opportunities to practice important skills to help you prepare for the future (e.g., CV/ Resumes, informational interviews, job and graduate school applications). We want to see how your career plans evolve over the semester as you are exposed to information from this course and other experiences in your life!

What you will submit: Please submit a 500-word reflection about your current ideal career goals and what steps you have been taking/ are considering taking to attain your ideal career goals.

ALL WORK SHOULD BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Do not copy and paste, or even paraphrase from any source!

Please submit this reflection in one Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx file) or PDF, double-spaced in a reasonable font with one-inch margins. (Do NOT submit a .pages file.) We will not grade any files that cannot be opened or are corrupt, so please make sure to check your document after you upload it.
