Pick one question below to use as the start of a discussion question. Then reply to another student on a second thread. (Note that all of these questions ask you to be specific in your answer and to point directly to moments in the readings. For many of them, I have already pointed out the general ideas that we will be discussing. Your responsibility is to bring specifics to the discussion board through direct quotations.)

Using specific details from the readings, how does the general Native American understanding of childhood differ from the Puritan understanding of childhood?
Specifically in the three legends, identify the places where the Native American attitude towards children is shown.
Examine the ending of the Gluskabi legend. What does the ending tell us about Native Americans’ respect for children? Do we see that same respect in the other two legends?
According to the legends, how do children see the physical world around them?
