Discussion Thread: Tendencies & Biblical Integration

Self-Reflection and the Tendencies Quiz

Completing the Tendencies Quiz resulted in a score of 27, indicating a balance between open-mindedness and areas for personal growth. This score reveals how I appreciate the norms of valuing the other party’s opinions, though I feel the need to lower my defenses when someone questions me. McGhee (2019) emphasizes that humility and reflection are critical in implementing the Christian spirit in the decision-making process with the conventional standards of fairness and ethically acceptable practices. This aligns with the self-reflection model adopted by the quiz since it brings out the implication of bias that may have crept into the research. This is further supported by Lim (2023), who emphasizes that researchers in business have to examine and minimize the influence of self- and systematic bias to adequately meet the multifaceted demands of globalization and automation. Similarly, acknowledging bias gets to the core of fundamental and equal research, as the instructions echo in stating. As Jain and Khare (2022) argue, the researcher acquires paradigmatic reflexivity, which enhances their capacity to assess their subjectivity in strategic management settings.

Research Paradigm

The research paradigm that aligns best with my worldview is post-positivism, which admits the existence of the actual world but also the impossibility for a human being to grasp it completely. This perspective enables me to balance the pursuit of evidence-based truth with openness to new ideas. Lim (2023) notes that post-positivism favors emergent research approaches, primarily in complex organizations, in which organizations mainly operate in the global business arena; the issue of sustainability calls for constant change. Eisenhardt (2021) complements this perspective, advocating for systematic methods integrating qualitative and quantitative data to develop robust, practical theories. This approach, the central aspect of the Eisenhardt Method, exemplifies post-positivism’s iteration and self-reflection characteristics. Understanding this paradigm helps me keep my procedures in line with my perception of the world so that my work is scholarly and meaningful. According to Moya and Toledano (2024), spirituality positively influences business ethical behavior and helps solve organizational issues.

Biblical Worldview

A Biblical worldview offers a moral and ethical foundation that complements post-positivist principles. Proverbs 3:5- 6 highlights modesty and dependence on God’s wisdom, as explained by McGhee (2019), when it comes to spirituality, which enhances reflective and ethical research. Philippians 4:8 underlines the commitment to searching for the truth or perfection, which are the principles of academic research. The word of God gives ethical leads that create integrity and perseverance in research. For example, John 8:32 states, “The truth shall set you free,” such a piece of consciousness urges researchers to perform honest research practices.

Although post-positivism has an affinity with the Biblical concept of truth, it dramatically differs in recognizing only partial knowledge, something which the scripture makes clear should be supplemented with divine direction in cases of equivocality or doubtable circumstances: Mark 10:45 fosters servant leadership and challenges researchers to serve society in their research endeavors. Combining the Biblical text and academic rigor enables me to stand for Biblical values and consider modern problems. These principles, coupled with the strict methodological framework described by Eisenhardt (2021), make my work scholarly and socially responsible.

Application to Research

Creating a synthesis of Biblical worldview and post-positivist paradigm leads to the production of research methods that are not only rigorous but also morally responsible. Using the understanding of adaptability from Lim (2023), spirituality from McGhee (2019), systematic methods from Eisenhardt (2021), paradigmatic reflexivity from Jain and Khare (2022), and spirituality integration from Moya and Toledano (2024) allows me to cope with essential business issues using both critical and/or reflective approaches. This two-pronged strategy makes it possible for my work to contribute positively to existing scholarly production as well as the overall good of society.
