Read the instructions –

The student is to prepare 3 brief exegetical/interpretive reports on individual biblical

texts. The texts are to be drawn from the Pentateuch. The report will provide a 2-3 page

bullet-point summary of the interpretive issues present in the text. Your observations

should include but not be limited to the following: the important questions raised by the

text, the steps one would take to interpret the text correctly, the relevance of the text to

the life of the church and to the individual believer. You will also include a five entry

preliminary bibliography listing books and articles helpful to the study of the text.

Present a more comprehensive analysis of the text written in an essay form. Note that

Jeannine K. Brown, Scripture as Communication provides, especially in Part 2, practical

guidance for interpreting scripture.
