PREL 3001 Final Project Description
Select a public relations problem or opportunity to be approved by your instructor to serve as
your Final Project “client.” You may consider a situation related to work, a community or
government issue, or a nonprofit organization. Be sure you can access basic and credible
information about the client through public sources (Internet, library, annual reports) or contacts
you already have.
A. You will produce a situation statement that:
1. Describes the situation, your client, its mission, and the intended audience.
2. Identifies the specific problem(s) or opportunity you are addressing.
3. Set appropriate public relations objectives.
4. Outline all research steps that would be necessary to finalize the detailed public
relations program necessary to achieve your objectives.

program objectives. In support of your objectives and strategies, prepare each of the following:
1. Sample research questionnaire OR focus group moderator’s guide.
2. Cover memo to the proposed client describing ONE of the following tactics:

different applications (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Utterli, Second Life, etc.),
including target audiences, an outline of contents, and proposed distribution
methods.
