Design an Early Childhood Game
Example:
🧩 Game Types:

Color Quest – Match and sort colors
·
Shape Safari – Identify and place shapes into puzzles
·
Feeling Forest – Match emotion faces with the right name and comforting action
·
Number Nest – Count and group items (1–10)
🔸 Game Flow:
1.
Meet a Critter: A friendly animated creature introduces themselves and shares their problem.
2.
Mini-Challenges:
· Sort colored berries into matching baskets
· Count how many stars are in the sky
· Pick the shape that fits into a puzzle
· Choose an emotion face that matches how the Critter feels (happy, sad, scared, etc.)
3.
Reward Moment: Critter gives a “Thank you!” dance and a sticker or badge for completing the challenge.
Step I: Design and create a reading, math, science, or social studies tactual/visual/kinesthetic floor game that students may use in the classroom.
Hint: Decide on the target age group before this step.
Step 2: Create a 5 -10 Slide PPT presentation (no longer than 20 minutes) that:
· Explains the rules and rationale of the game and the target age against the backdrop of theory supported by peer-reviewed APA In-text -cited sources
· Shows a prototype of the game and any pieces that players may need to play
· Lists the objective & NY State Standard(s) (Identifying Number and Description) that the learning activity is based upon. You may find the standards here:

Note: For the purpose of this assignment, we will define a game as an activity played using a specific set of developmentally appropriate rules for early childhood players and designed to build a particular set of skills within a specified time frame. Players must be able to recognize the start and end of each game clearly.
For Asynchronous courses, please record your presentation as part of the PPT. For Synchronous/ Online Mixed courses, you will present in person, and possibly at the Molloy University Early Childhood Conference.
