What is Gender?

Sex Media Example

“I am Jazz” is a reality TV show which captures the narrative of a transgender teen and how she navigates life after transitioning at a young age. In this episode, her friend Noelle speaks about her own transition experience and addresses the difficulties that puberty brought. Due to Jazz transitioning at a young age, she was able to begin taking hormone blockers before she experienced puberty. This hindered the development of male characteristics she would otherwise have. Noelle expresses that she did not have this advantage since she began transitioning around the age of 14. Because she went through puberty as a male, she feels that the characteristic that developed during that time do not align with her gender identity.
