Hello classmates,
I am active duty in the military and currently on Eastern Standard Time. I have 4 kids, I’ve been in for over 18 years, and I am overdue for a mini vacation. My job title is Management, and it entails managing people, different types of aircrews, planning missions, handling pay for various companies and consist of traveling. Sometimes traveling a little too much.
I am taking this class because it is a requirement, and it’s a weak area of mines when it comes the security of IT. I feel as though there is more that I should know and understand when it comes to the security. I hope that throughout this class, I can have a great understanding and be able to utilize it later throughout my work career. Initially, it was showing that my TA had not approved it yet, so I was a little uncertain if I was in the class or not. Now I’m just waiting for my book.
IT Security is an interest to me because there are things within the security section that I am unfamiliar with. Depending on which route that I take with my degree, I will need to know the basics.
My hobbies are reading, playing volleyball, and relaxing when I can. The kids take up majority of my time, but I manage to make it all work.
I look forward to learning from you all in this class and sharing what we already know. Knowledge is power.

Hello Class,
As a Ghanaian by birth, you can call me
Kwadwo because I was born on Monday. I recently relocated to Texas after years of living in Hawaii due to a DOD contract assignment. I work as a Technology Operations Analyst at Wells Fargo Bank, and before that I worked as a Network security engineer for the State of Hawaii Department of Defense. I graduated from APUS with a master’s degree in Cybersecurity Studies (Spring 2024) and have realized that organizations are paying higher salaries for well-trained cybersecurity professionals with business administration background, that’s why earning an MBA degree could be the best investment you ever make.
At Wells Fargo Bank, I collaborate with IT and business units to implement secure systems and infrastructure. My daily tasks at work include managing and optimizing security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and SIEM solutions. Today, I was assigned to conduct gap analyses to identify weaknesses in our existing security policies and develop actionable recommendations.
Information security management is crucial for organizations because it protects sensitive data, ensures business continuity, maintains customer trust, and helps organizations meet compliance and regulatory requirements, ultimately safeguarding their reputation and long-term success. At the end of the course, I hope to understand how to design, implement, and evaluate security programs, manage risks, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, while also fostering a security-aware culture.
My hobbies include surfing and watching soccer games (English Premiership). Also, in my leisure time, I teach kids how to code. My family recently purchased a 3D printing machine, very soon our first product will be ready out of the printer. 3D printing is fun, I recommend it to all. My career goal is to further my education to attain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Enterprise Risk Management after MBA. Someday, I would like to be a college professor so I could help inspire younger ones.
I look forward to working with you all, let’s make the class fun
