Operation Management
Carrefour is a renowned retail store which has several branches around the world.
It is a French hypermarket that serves different countries and provides different products
under one roof. Operation management of the organization is the comprehensive process
of managing the organization as a whole and producing the company products and
services for the consumers. Operation management must be efficient in order to smooth
the supply chain and distribution of goods and services to the consumer (Stevenson,
2021).
The quality of operations at Carrefour is observed by the consumer from a diverse
prospective. Consumers want the availability of a wide range of products in order to have
quality satisfaction. Moreover, the consumers acknowledge are response time from the
management and staff of the organization for the quality of their operations. The customer
also finds convenience as a sort of quality so that the consumer finds the product with
minimum time. The pricing also has Been acknowledged as part of the quality of the
operations of the organization. All these factors are considered together for the quality
(Chang & Hu, 2020).
Technology operations advancements have a significant impact on the perception
of the management. Technological advancement has significantly shaped consumer
expectations of the organization. The customers now a days are very up to date regarding
the technology and its operation. The consumers see technology to a greater extent and
want the organization to utilize different Technology tools and operations in order to
reduce errors and setbacks. The Customers utilize the digital platform in order to get
organization status. The use of digital tools and Technology has optimized customer
expectations (Chang & Hu, 2020).
In Carrefour, quality is perceived through excellent customer service, strong
assistance, a clean and organized store, a high brand reputation, standardized
consistency variety and fresheners of products. Other companies in the same industry,
such as Hyper Panda, utilize a diverse range of products with a strong emphasis on
freshness and quality. It also has a good reputation among consumers for good customer
service and pleasant experience. It is also the value established brand having high quality
and reliability. In Carrefour, the technology is utilized, such as advanced POS checkout
Technology and inventory management systems, E-Commerce, mobile payments
system, home delivery and click and collect services, etc. On the other hand, the company
known as hyper Panda also have state of the art inventory management system, selfservice check out, contactless payment system and online shopping experience for
consumers (Ivanov et al., 2020).
For impactful operation of the hypermarket, the most important is customer
satisfaction, then inventory management, store layout, location, capacity planning,
forecasting and lastly scheduling. On the other hand, in a different industry like the
manufacturing industry, the most important is capacity planning because it ensures the
production demand meeting than inventory management, forecasting, scheduling,
customer satisfaction, location and store layout. Store the layout is least important as it
focuses on operational efficiency rather than the customer experience.
In the hypermarkets, the operation should focus on enjoyable and seamless
shopping experience and maintaining the high inventory, insuring all the product available
is necessary while in the manufacturing industry the operation should prioritizes the
efficient production process with optimal utilization of resources and minimal down time
to meet the qualities standards (Mao et al., 2022).
