BIO 110 Semester Project: Presentation

Use the website below for topic

Procedures:

Presentation: You will create a PowerPoint presentation to summarize your findings. Your PowerPoint is due during Module 4. This assignment will make up 10% of your overall grade in BIO-110 (Assignments and Discussions). The other 5% will be calculated as an average from previous discussion board activities. Follow the steps below:

1. Create a Power Point Presentation summarizing your findings:

a. Your PowerPoint must include a title slide, at least 10 content slides, and a works cited slide.

b. All text in your slides should be written using proper English spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Visit the Semester Project Rubric to see how your submissions will be graded.

c. Slides should be organized as follows:

i. Slide 1: Your title slide should give the research question you investigated, along with your name, course number, and semester.

ii. Slides 2-3: Explain the significance of your research question. Slides must contain relevant content in text (3-5 bullet points per slide) and may contain supporting imagery (pictures, graphs, etc.

iii. Slide 4: Offer at least two possible answers to your research question. Each should be labeled either “Answer Supported” and “Answer Refuted”.

1. Answer Supported: This is the answer to your question that is supported by the evidence in your article and other sources. For example, “Answer Supported: Food A is healthier than Food B.”

2. Answer Refuted: This is the answer that’s not supported by your article and other sources. For example: “Answer Refuted: Food B is healthier than Food A.”

iv. After slide 4, use additional slides to describe and explain the evidence that the Answer Supported is a reliable answer.

1. These slides must be titled “Evidence for Answer Supported.”

2. Slides must contain relevant content in text (3-5 bullet points per slide) and may contain supporting imagery (pictures, graphs, etc.).

3. Use examples, applications, and observations from your research – do not merely list facts.

4. Explain why each piece of evidence is important or relevant.

v. Next, explain why the Answer Refuted is inaccurate, and how the inaccurate misconception of its accuracy may have arisen.

1. These slides must be titled “Evidence against Answer Refuted.”

2. Slides must contain relevant content in text (3-5 bullet points per slide) and may contain supporting imagery (pictures, graphs, etc.).

vi. Your final slide should be a Works Cited page with a complete, APA formatted references for at least 3 sources.

1. Remember to use in-text citations as you borrow from each source in your presentation.

2. For help with references and citations, visit the
Purdue Owl website (opens new window).

2. Review your Presentation and complete the “Self-Evaluation” section of the “Semester Project Presentation Grading Rubric”.

3. Submit your “Self-Evaluation” as a .docx file and a draft of your PowerPoint as a .pptx file using the link available in the Module 4 Folder within the course Blackboard site

April 17th, 2024
. This is worth 5 bonus points on your Presentation grade.

4. Revise your presentation based on your “Self-Evaluation” and any instructor feedback.

5. Submit your Final Presentation as a .pptx file using the link available in the Module 4 folder within the course Blackboard site. You must submit your Presentation

May 2st, 2024.

6. Record your Final Presentation. Please refer to instructions posted in the Module 4 folder and submit them by

May 2st, 2024.
