BIO 330 Milestone One Guidelines and Rubric
For this milestone, submit a literature review and indicate the species you have selected for your final project. The literature review must address the critical elements listed below and must include at least four primary and two secondary sources; the sources must be current, professional, and credible. When writing the literature review, you will need to summarize, evaluate, and offer critical comments on the ideas, information, and facts that the author presents in the literature. Your goal should be to read and understand the literature, analyze the findings or arguments, and justify use of the source in your research paper.

Specifically, the following
critical elements must be addressed:

Literature Review
Select one of following five species: black rhinoceros,
Diceros bicornis; red knot,
Calidris canutus; harpy eagle,
Harpia harpyja; Kemp’s ridley turtle,
Lepidochelys kempii; or Bornean or Sumatran orangutan,
Pongo pygmaeus, P. albelii. Once you have selected a species, conduct an in-depth literature review that includes at least four primary sources and two secondary sources. Primary sources may include scholarly journal articles and books. Secondary sources may include websites, online news reports, and videos. This review must be comprehensive. Address the following:
A. Examine and include
scholarly articles, books, and other sources relevant to your particular issue.
B. Justify the significance and validity of
empirical research in the fields of conservation biology and ecology
C. Provide a
summary and critical analysis of the information presented within each work. Indicate how each source is necessary for your research paper.
What to Submit
Your paper should be submitted as a one to two page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. The sources (at least four primary and two secondary) should be cited according to APA style.
