The computer science instructor at a local high school asked you to visit her class and give a presentation about project management. You have just a few days to prepare, and you need to develop a presentation that describes project management, project management tools and techniques.

Thinking about what to present, you decide to first define project management and then describe how projects are planned, scheduled, monitored, and reported upon.

Tasks:

  1. Prepare a presentation that provides the class with an overview of project management. Explain the what, why, how and who of project management.
  2. Provide the class with a list of the top five (5) most important project management terms along with their definitions.
  3. Think of a common event like buying a car, building a house, changing a flat tire or similar project and describe to the class how a project manager might handle the matter.
  4. Include the specific steps and the appropriate sequence you would take in completing the example project you selected.
  5. Your “presentation” should be in MS Word format, this can be equivalent to the speaker notes that would accompany your PowerPoint presentation.

Be certain that your final response is much more than a series of bullet points. Your response and associated verbiage should communicate a clear understanding of project management, what this involves and steps one would take to manage and implement a project.
