The following assignment is due by 12/10/25.
Each essay/answer should be at least one typed page in length, but I encourage you to go beyond the minimum requirement. Please note you will lose points for writing errors or underdeveloped responses.
1. Arguments and persuasion are part of our everyday lives. We argue, persuade, and are persuaded repeatedly throughout the day. Take inventory of the arguments and examples of persuasion within a twenty-four-hour period of your life. Write about what happened, why it happened, how you reacted, and the eventual outcome. I encourage you to consider conversations, articles, advertisements, and arguments in their many forms.
You do not necessarily have to recall every instance. Instead, select 3-4 examples and analyze them to the best of your ability.
2. Throughout this class, I have introduced a variety of arguments and articles for you to read. Select 3 articles/arguments written by other authors that you encountered throughout this class. Why did you select these articles? Why were they memorable for you? Examine the authors’ arguments and the literary devices they used to present their arguments. Finally, if you did not enjoy a particular article, then suggest an alternative text.
3. Reflect on how you construct your arguments. What is your process for developing arguments from considering ideas up to the final draft? In other words, how do you argue?
