Research Paper Proposal Guidance
In week 8, students will submit ten pages of a Research Paper on The Mission of God in the Light of a Prophetic Text. For example: Take Isa. 61: 1-3 and ask the following questions:
· How is this verse fulfilled in the life and ministry of Jesus?
· How did the apostle Paul teach and preach it?
· What impact do these verses have on the missions of the early church?
· How should the current church apply it?
I encourage you to write your research proposal on the text above or your choice of other prophetic text to do your research.
In the research paper, you are expected to analyze and interpret the prophetic messages about the universal and inclusive nature of God’s mission. God is the initiator, provider, the message and the messenger, empowering presence, and life transformer. Discuss how the prophets foresaw the mission to the Gentiles before Jesus inaugurated the culturally and racially transcendent kingdom of God.
Give some practical guidelines on how the modern church in your context should participate in the Great Commission by presenting the good news of the gospel in all its dimensions (social, economic, emotional, relational, etc.) to impact the lives of people. Apply at least three of Paul’s missionary methods and principles. In addition, discuss how the prophetic messages influenced and impacted the life and ministry of Paul who becomes one of the great missionaries, theologians, and Christian leaders, in Christian history.
The term paper is to follows Turabian formatting guidelines and includes a cover page, table of contents, and bibliography. For samples of current Turabian formatting guidelines, please visit
