Delivery Characteristics of a Great Speech

One of the best ways to improve as a speaker is to give speeches time and time again. But another way is to observe speakers in action. By noting and critiquing their strengths and weaknesses, you can model their effective techniques in your own presentations and learn how to avoid or address practices that fall short of the ideal.

This two to three-page analysis requires you to search the Internet for an example of a speaker with excellent delivery skills and an example of a speaker with poor delivery skills. You will then compare the speakers’ presentations in terms of characteristics of a great delivery.

There are three sections to the paper.•    The first section should discuss characteristics of a great delivery.•    The second section should compare the delivery of the two speakers, including discussion on any presentational aids the speakers use in their presentations. This section should describe specific examples from the presentations to support your arguments.•    The last section should include a brief discussion of what you have learned about best delivery practices from your analysis. Any specific aspect of delivery that you want to model in your own presentations?

Your paper should include a brief introduction and conclusion. The paper is to be formatted according to APA standards, include a cover page and references page, and include at least two academic resources. Your textbook can count as one of the sources. The reference list should also include proper citations for the two speech presentations selected for analysis.
