HRM355 Final Exam
Your final exam must be submitted as a Word document (.docx, .doc)*. Your project will be individually graded by your instructor and therefore may take up to five to seven days to grade.
Be sure that each of your files contains the following information:
- Your name
- Your student ID number
- The exam number
- Your email address
Note: If you have more than 10 attachments, you’ll need to collect all of your files into a compressed folder. To do this, follow these instructions based on your operating system:
- Windows: Select the files you want to compress, right-click and select Send to. . . and then Compressed (zipped) folder.
- Mac: Select the files you want to compress, control-click and select Compress.
To submit your final exam, follow these steps:
- Log in to your student portal.
- Click on Take Exam next to the lesson you’re working on.
- Find the exam number for your project at the top of the Project Upload page.
- Follow the instructions provided to complete your exam.
Be sure to keep a backup copy of any files you submit to the school!
Training Concepts
Complete the final exam by answering the following essay and short-answer questions and compiling your answers into a word-processing document. Note: Essay questions (worth 15 points each) require at least two or three paragraphs, with a brief introduction, supporting text, and conclusion. Short-answer questions (worth 5 points each) require only brief, one-paragraph (three or four sentences) answers.
Lesson 1: Elements of Training
Essay Question (15 points):
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of a centralized training function in an organization?
Short-Answer Questions (5 points each):
- Describe why some have criticized the traditional Instructional System Design (ISD) model.
- What are some of the limitations of using smartphones or notebooks for training?
- What problems might arise if a proper training needs assessment isn’t conducted?
- Why should upper-level managers be included in the needs assessment process?
Lesson 2: Corporate Training Design
Essay Question (15 points):
- What are the principles of adult learning theory (andragogy) and their implications for training design and delivery?
Short-Answer Questions (5 points each):
- What are some ways employees can learn through interaction?
- How can big data be used to show that learning influences business outcomes?
- What are some ways new technology has benefited training and learning in the workplace?
- Under what conditions should managers and trainers consider using new technology training methods?
Lesson 3: Organizational Development Considerations
Essay Question (15 points):
- What are wearables? Discuss how they might be useful for training and learning.
Short-Answer Questions (5 points each):
- How can organizations help ensure the effectiveness of formal mentoring programs?
- Explain some training-related situations that may result in legal action.
- Why will just-in-time learning be increasingly prevalent in the future?
