Assignment

Scenario:  Imagine that you are an expert in the various types of non-hospital options for birthing. You are passionate about using “natural birthing processes versus drug-induced birthing”.

What is the assignment? Your job is to do a presentation in any format to present the following information:

  • You will make a comparison and then a contrast of two NON-hospital delivery options for birthing (i.e., free-standing birthing center, home birth with a midwife, orgasmic birth, water birthing, etc.). Criteria for comparison and contrast may include but are not limited to the following: cost, atmosphere, privacy, pre-and post-natal care options, mother/pregnancy match with birthing plan, policies on medical interventions such as episiotomies, availability of tubs for water births, separation of mother and infant, etc.  DO NOT do a comparison with a hospital birth.  Be thorough in the information you present in this project’s comparison and contrast components.      FYI:  Comparison – common items between the two non-hospital delivery types you selected     FYI:  Contrast – differences between the two non-hospital delivery types you selected

Where did you obtain information for the assignment?

  • Your information may be obtained from any credible source – you must credit the source and list it at the end of your project. You must have at least 2 sources for EACH birthing process (they can be online ones or other sources).  When using online sources,  list the full URL (copy and paste the Web address) plus the title of the site.

How do you present the information and how is this assignment graded?

  • Your information may be presented in any format (letter, memo, outline, brochure, PowerPoint, with graphics, pictures, etc.).  Be thorough and be creative!
  • Be sure you use correct grammar, clear concise statements, and do NOT copy anyone else’s work as your own. Place the quote in quotation marks and note the source if you quote someone.
