Assessment Description
1. You must undertake a critical workstation assessment, identifying and analyzing needs
(e.g. using or adapting the VDU Workstation Checklist), you should include photographs of
the workstation in your presentation.
2. Critically analyse the data gathered from your evaluation of the workstation assessment
to identify ways in which the task or the environment could be adapted to reduce the
chance of human error without impacting negatively on work satisfaction.
3. Prepare and present your findings, together with a critical discussion of how and why
these should be implemented. You should demonstrate your comprehensive knowledge of
the design of environments and work and the practical and ethical issues in the area of
design.
As well as the areas of adaption, your presentation slides / deck with transcript must
include:
• Introduction – the presentation should be properly introduced. The introduction
should outline the purpose, structure and goal of the presentation. It should also
introduce the key features of the case study.
• Consideration Areas – Furniture and Equipment (Monitor, Mouse, Chair, Wrist
Support, Key Board, Posture Support etc.)
• A summary and outline of how the recommendations will impact on the
e=iciency of the workstation. The relevant theories should be identified, applied to
the case study and referenced – academic support is a key aspect of this
assessment.
