In this module, you will turn in the first part of your paper. The first part of your paper includes: Introduction, Research Question/Topic and purpose, methodology, and your literature review. Remember, regardless of the option you are doing, EVERYONE must have a literature review (these should be published research articles and should not be action research but a variety of different types of research surrounding your chosen topic).

Additionally, when you submit your paper I will read and give as much feedback as I can. If there is a specific section of your paper you would like me to pay closer attention to, be sure to note that in the comments section of your submission.

Action Research Paper Part One: (Intro, Question and Purpose, Lit Review, Methodology, Citations)

Your upload should be your paper thus far. That means it should include each of the following sections: Title Page, Intro, Question and Purpose, Lit Review (this is for everyone), methodology (your data collection plan/research plan), and your citations page.

I will read each paper, assess your sections, and then share a rubric with you so that you know where you are. I will also do my best to provide specific feedback for you.

Remember, you should be using one of the provided templates for your paper. If you haven’t been using the template already, you can download the proper one in Module One.

****teacher feedback*****Much better focus question! Thank you for hearing the feedback. Your methodology still needs to be adjusted. Based on your question, and the fact that you are in a classroom where you serve students, you need to actually put something into play with them. Your methodology is what you plan to do with the students, how you plan to gather the data, and how you plan to analyze the data. What you have now is a methodology for a meta analysis of research, which is not what you are doing.

Please explain where you are with your project. Share with your classmates your research question and current plan of action to gather data. What changes have you made? What have you learned so far?

Hello classmates, I have made some substantial changes to my research project, “Implementing Targeted Socioeconomic Interventions to Improve Academic Performance in Low-Income Students”. Initially, my topic was “Addressing Socioeconomic Inequality in Education” which was too broad but I realized the significance of narrowing it down so that I can be able to deepen and get specific. The primary aim is to determine significant factors that are associated with the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of these programs and explain how these dynamics shape the educational process of poor students (Snilstveit et al., 2015). With this in mind, my research question is about the understanding of how socioeconomic interventions that are targeted are impacting the academic performance of low-income students and identifying the key factors determining the effectiveness of these interventions. This question will refine my research into several options such as financial aid, mentoring programs, and resource allocation. With regard to the methodology, I prefer to employ a traditional approach that focuses on a comprehensive review of the existing literature in the databases such as PubMed, ERIC, and JSTOR. This strategy will enable a holistic comprehension of socioeconomic interventions and their effects on the academic achievements of poor students. I will critically evaluate the methodologies, results and constraints of identified studies, including consideration of the social and economic determinants and the interventions used. This study aims at providing practical recommendations for the development of evidence-based policy and equitable education for all students. I’ve come to realize that narrowing my focus on traditional methodologies is the key to helping me understand the intricacies of targeted interventions and how they help in reducing the achievement gap.
