Case Study: Implementing a New Customer Management System (CMS) at XYZ Bank

XYZ Bank, a mid-sized financial institution, aims to implement a new Customer Management System (CMS) to improve customer service and streamline operations. The project team must choose the best project management model—Traditional, Hybrid, or Complex—to ensure successful execution.

  1. Traditional Approach: Initially, the project was planned using a structured Waterfall model with defined phases—requirement gathering, system design, development, testing, and deployment. However, mid-way through the project, regulatory changes forced modifications to the system requirements, causing significant delays.
  2. Hybrid Approach: To manage the evolving requirements, the project team adopted a Hybrid model, maintaining a structured planning and deployment phase while incorporating Agile sprints for feature development. This allowed iterative improvements and better adaptability to changing regulations.
  3. Complex Project Management: As the project progressed, unforeseen cybersecurity threats and customer privacy concerns emerged, requiring real-time problem-solving and rapid adjustments. The bank had to involve cross-functional teams, cybersecurity experts, and regulatory advisors to continuously reassess risks, making the project more complex and requiring a dynamic, flexible management style.

Despite the challenges, the CMS was successfully launched, improving customer engagement and reducing service response times by 30%. The combination of Traditional planning, Agile execution, and Complex risk management allowed XYZ Bank to navigate uncertainties while delivering a high-quality system.

Include your approach to defining project requirements, creating a timeline, assigning tasks to team members, managing budget constraints, and ensuring quality assurance. How would you address potential risks such as delays in development or issues with vendor integration?

Presentation Requirements

Your presentation should include the following sections:

  2. Identification Confirmation Slide: Kindly hold your government-issued ID card to the camera for us to verify your identity.
  3. Introduction
  4. Slides related to the questions.
  5. Conclusion
  6. Reference

 Presentation Format

Slides: 

  1. Create a video presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  2. Minimum of 9 slides, including a title slide, an introduction slide, a conclusion slide and a reference slide.
  3. Slides should contain bullet points with a limited number of words.
  4. You can include graphics, diagrams, and tables.
  5. It is a must to use the notes section of each slide to include detailed information and supporting sentences or paragraphs.
