You are required to meet with your role-play group this week. Before joining your role-play group, be sure to study the material and discuss your understanding of the skills for this week with your group.  The role play will be at least one hour in order to allow for each learner to have a chance to cycle through being the social worker, the client, and the observer.  

By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following EPAs and advanced practice behaviors: 

  • EPAS Competency 3: Engage Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) in Practice
    • C3.GP.A Demonstrate anti-racist and anti-oppressive social work practice at the individual, family, group, organizational, community, research, and policy levels.
    • C3.GP.B Demonstrate cultural humility by applying critical reflection, self-awareness, and self-regulation to manage the influence of bias, power, privilege, and values in working with clients and constituencies, acknowledging them as experts of their own lived experiences.
      • Related Assignment Criteria:
        • Describe how you can use an anti-oppressive practice approach with the skills you have learned this week.
        • Identify two skills that you are still working on and developing.
  • EPAS Competency 7: Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
    • C7.GP.A Apply theories of human behavior and person-in-environment, as well as other culturally responsive and interprofessional conceptual frameworks, when assessing clients and constituencies.
    • C7.GP.B Demonstrate respect for client self-determination during the assessment process by collaborating with clients and constituencies in developing a mutually agreed-upon plan.
      • Related Assignment Criteria:
        • Reflect upon what you learned in the role of client.
        • Identify two skills that you learned this week and how you were able to apply them in your practice.
  • EPAS Competency 8: Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
    • C8.GP.A Engage with clients and constituencies to critically choose and implement culturally responsive, evidence-informed interventions to achieve client and constituency goals.
      • Related Assignment Criteria:
        • Reflect upon what you learned in the role of social worker.
  • EPAS Competency 9: Evaluate practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities
    • C9.GP.A Select and use culturally responsive methods for the evaluation of outcomes.
      • Related Assignment Criteria:
        • Reflect upon what you learned in the role of observer.

Instructions 

After completing and recording the role play (recommended to record to the cloud and not to your personal device), in a separate format, such as a paper, an audio file, or a video file, provide a succinct reflection of the theories and interventions that were played out during your group session.  

For each reflection, list the names of the individuals present and participating (including their roles in each role-play). 

  1. Reflect upon what you learned in the role of social worker.
  2. Reflect upon what you learned in the role of client.
  3. Reflect upon what you learned in the role of observer.
  4. Identify two skills that you learned this week and how you were able to apply them in your practice.
  5. Identify two skills that you are still working on and developing.
  6. Describe how you can use an anti-oppressive practice approach with the skills you have learned this week.

Additional Requirements 

  • Written communication: Your paper should be well organized and written in clear, succinct language, with no technical writing errors, as expected of a social work professional. The Writing CenterLinks to an external site. can provide resources to help with this requirement.
  • Length of paper: Approximately 1 typed, double-spaced page, in addition to the title and references pages.
  • Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
  • Media files should be at least 4 minutes in length, but no longer than 6 minutes.
