Assignment 3 (Week 5):

Topic: The long-term effects of stress

Strong beginnings and endings have the ability to persuade readers to read an essay and believe the writer’s argument. Spend time crafting, revising, and editing the introductory paragraph.

The introductory Paragraph should include all the most interesting highlights. Remember, while a movie trailer attempts to attract the viewer through visual means, the introductory paragraph attempts to attract the reader through powerful images in words:

  • Create a strong hook.
  • Add at least 2-3 sentences of the most interesting supporting details and/or evidence. Use evidence/quote sandwiches and/or explainer sentences if needed.
  • Revise your thesis statement from Assignment 1 and add it as the last sentence to the introduction.

Submission Instructions:

  • Submit the introductory paragraph in one MS Word file.
  • Include a signature block in the upper left-hand corner and double-space the whole Assignment.
  • NO AI OR PLAGIARISM

Assignment 4 (Week 6):

Topic: The long-term effects of stress

Strong beginnings and endings have the ability to persuade readers to read through an essay. Spend time crafting, revising, and editing the conclusion. It is a summary of the most interesting highlights, including the hook. Do not add any new information. Remember, like a bad ending to a pretty decent film, you do not want to leave your reader unsatisfied by providing a weak or rushed conclusion. Spend some time giving your reader one last reason to believe your argument/assertion.

  • Begin with the topic you wrote about in the Assignment 1.
  • Summarize at least 2-3 sentences of the most interesting supporting details and/or evidence. Present them in a new way with new words and a new word order; in other words, paraphrase your own writing.
  • Add a few recycled citations to remind the reader that you are working with facts, not opinions.
  • Restate the thesis in a new way with new words and a new word order. The reader should not recognize the thesis statement.
  • Submit the Concluding Paragraph in one MS Word document. Please add thethesis statement to the top of the document

Submission Instructions:

  • Submit the conclusion in one MS Word file.
  • Include a signature block in the upper left-hand corner and double space the whole Assignment.
  • NO AI OR PLAGIARISM
