Read “Executives with a Global Skill Set Are in Big Demand” on Page 466- regarding,  How can multinational companies utilize talent management strategies to ensure successful foreign assignments for executives. How can companies assess and develop the competencies required for global mobility, including cultural adaptability and emotional intelligence, to reduce the risk of assignment failure?

To prepare for this week’s assignment, read the case “Why Aren’t More Women Selected for International Assignments?” in your textbook (p. 473). After reading the case, discuss the following questions:

· What are the main barriers that contribute to the reluctance of international companies (ICs) to select women for expatriate assignments? Are these barriers based on empirical evidence, or do they stem from stereotypes and biases? Support your argument with examples from the case and relevant research.

· In what situations or contexts might women have a distinct advantage as expatriates compared to their male counterparts? Are there any cultural, industry-specific, or job-related circumstances where female expatriates should be considered more strongly for assignments? Provide reasons for your answer.

· What steps can companies take to reduce barriers and increase the selection of high-potential women for expatriate roles? Discuss initiatives that HR departments can implement to support women before, during, and after international assignments.

· How might female expatriates navigate cultural challenges in countries where women have lower social status? Can certain cultural dynamics confer advantages to female expatriates? Provide examples to illustrate your points.

· How do family roles and social expectations impact the willingness of women to accept international assignments compared to men? What policies can companies implement to support female expatriates with families and encourage them to take on these roles?

In your paper, be sure to utilize the textbook and integrate at least three peer-reviewed sources along with their citations and references. Your paper must be APA formatted and include at least 1200 words. Please use the APA 7th Essay Template
