This reflection helps you deepen your understanding of a specific course competency by connecting it to a relevant learning experience from this course. For reference on how your program and courses align with the competencies, please consult the MHCA Program Mapping to CAHME Standards document C.
JOURNAL PROMPT
Choose one specific CAHME Accreditation competency that you have engaged with or observed in this course (e.g., Analytical Thinking, Communication Skills, Process and Quality Improvement, Strategic Orientation, Professional and Social Responsibility, Team Leadership). Now, identify one significant learning experience from this course (e.g., case study, project, discussion) where this chosen competency was particularly evident, utilized, or challenged.
In your reflection, please address the following:
- The Chosen Competency: Name and briefly describe the competency you have selected. Why is this competency vital for effective healthcare management and for professionals graduating from CAHME-accredited programs?

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- File Format: Your reflection must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word document (docx).
- Length: Your reflection should be no more than one to two pages in length. This limit encourages you to be concise while still providing thorough and thoughtful insights.
- APA Formatting: The document should be formatted according to APA style guidelines. Use Times New Roman font at 12 points, maintain double-spacing throughout, and use one-inch margins on all sides. It is not necessary to add a cover page.
- Clarity and Organization: Organize your reflection using the provided prompt’s sections as clear headings. First-person is acceptable as a means of reflection.
- Academic Integrity: All work must be your own. Any external sources used for background information or defining a competency must be properly cited using a consistent style, such as APA. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
