Week 8 Discussion: Continue Your Discussion Proposal Presentation Development
This week, discuss your thoughts related to elements to be included in a presentation to a stakeholder or group of stakeholders who could influence legislation improving your selected social policy.
Here are some ideas to get you started. Choose one to respond to for the discussion this week.
- Describe a group or individual who could influence the advancement of your policy change recommendations. How would you go about identifying and making an appointment to see this influencer? Who could help you connect with this person or group? How will you determine what might positively influence your audience?
- Describe previous experiences you have had working with influencers. What tips would you give others when approaching a person or group to help mobilize advocacy efforts?
- How does your culture, background, and/or experience impact your thinking about how to identify an opportunity for change and the leadership needed? How might this assist you in completing your presentation due in Week 9?
- Explain which of this week’s concepts, resources, or activities is of most interest to you and your professional development. Offer some specific examples.
