CULTURAL AUDIT ASSIGNMENT 

Proposed Client and Client/Organization Background -Cultural Audit Report for the Consulting/Organizational Diagnosis Project(Minimum Two Pages-Maximum Three Pages) 

You will prepare a concise report in business memo format (block format, single space within paragraphs and double space between paragraphs) that will include (a) the name of your proposed client/organization, (b) the type of organization (non profit, for profit, not for profit, service, etc.), (c) organization’s size and location, (d) mission statement, (e) historical background (this will most likely be learned from an informational interview with your contact at the organization, (f) problem identified by the client (manager and employees) in initial interview or problem you want to explore further, (e) any other pertinent information. This information will go in the background section of your final report. Make sure to use headings in the report as you will in the final consulting report at the end of the semester. Use Schein’s model of organizational culture as the framework for your analysis/audit. 

STRUCTURE:

This will be written as a memo with the client as the recipient (even if you do not send them this version), and I will be CCd on the memo. Create a logo and name for your consulting company and include the letterhead at the top of the memo.

Begin Headings 

* Use block format (do not indent) 

*Single space within paragraphs, double space between paragraphs 

*Include citations/sources to support your ideas and cite using APA 7th edition 

* Use a minimum of four sources 

References 

Start with a very brief opening statement on the purpose of the paper and preview main points.Describe (briefly) the ORGANIZATION. Type of organization, its mission, where it is located, number of people, structure of the organization, and your responsibilities and tasks. Cover the items listed above under subsequent headings.

Students should not use their own organizations for this assessment since the risk of researcher bias is quite high. The exception to this is if the student can assess a part of the organization with which the student is not familiar, to prevent or lessen the impact of researcher bias.

Remember: A problem is:

a. Something that is happening that should not be happening (attrition, morale problems)

b. Something that is not happening that should be happening (job satisfaction)

c. Something that is happening and should be happening but is not at the desired level
